Coolum Sports Complex expansion – Project Update

Project summary
As part of Council’s endorsed Coolum Sports Complex Masterplan, works will soon begin on a new multi-use field. The $2.4 million expansion project is a joint venture between Council and
the Queensland Government’s Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing ‘Get Playing Plus’ program. The expansion of the complex will provide
space for junior rectangular sports and cricket to expand.

The new facilities include;
• construction of a multi use sports field
• a training area
• new car parking facilities
• access road improvements
• footpaths
• planted swales
• shade trees
• and revegetation along Stumers Creek (see
plan over page).
Timing of works
Site works are scheduled to begin in early May
2015 and will continue to December 2015
(weather permitting).

Access and disruptions
Contractors will fence off the immediate area for the duration of works to maintain public safety.
Access will remain open to the adjacent complex and neighbouring properties.

Where to from here
Following the completion of the project an open day celebration will be held. Further information will be available closer to the end of the project.
This is another exciting project for the Coolum and District Community and particularly our young athletes. The construction of a junior cricket ground that can also be used for
junior rectangular sports in the off-season is a much needed asset for the Coolum Sports Complex. Please be aware that during the early construction phase it is anticipated there
will be some minor impact on nearby local clubs. While council will do its best to minimise any inconvenience, your patience and understanding would be appreciated.
