Council Update on Coolum Civic Centre

Update to the site works at Coolum Civic Centre:

  • Internal refurbishment of the Coolum Civic Centre foyer area
  • Construction of the Coolum Civic Centre external entry statement
  • Various park pathways, kerbing, rock walls and lighting
  • This email is to update you on construction works scheduled for August

Unfortunately the recent prolonged spate of wet weather has caused some slight delays in the construction schedule, especially in regard to road treatments and concrete pouring/drying. The project team is trying to make up as much time as possible however there are some reforecast completion dates for some elements of the project.

Please take note of the following changes:

  • 8 August – Civic Centre internal foyer, meeting room and public toilet areas reopen. NB: In the interests of pedestrian safety, access to the foyer, meeting room and public toilet areas will be from inside the Civic Centre Hall until external works are complete (estimated 17 September)
  • 8 August – Partial Park Street reopening. To help traders and residents with additional access to the Community Centre, Library and Civic Centre, temporary 30-minute parking will be available as per the blue shaded area on the attached map. The 30-minute parking will revert to all-day parking following completion of the project. The areas shaded in yellow on the map will be progressively opened as works are completed up until 17 September.
  • 17 September – Project completion date. Civic Centre and Park Street through access and car park areas will reopen.
As we put the finishing touches on Stage One works, pedestrian access to the Coolum Community Centre, Coolum Civic Centre, Coolum Library and Jack Morgan Park remain in place with ‘business as usual’ status applying at all venues. The temporary public toilets which are currently located adjacent to the Civic Centre will remain in place until 17 September
