On behalf of the community, Council has developed a nomination for our region to be recognised by UNESCO as an international site of excellence, known as a biosphere. A biosphere is a special place. It is a place where responsible development and people living sustainably sit alongside active conservation. The outcome of the nomination will be announced in June 2021

Congratulations- Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club!

For the first time, our very own Coolum Beach has taken out first prize to top the list of Surf Life Saving Queensland’s best patrolled beaches. Queensland’s annual awards are based on not only popularity but safety, facilities and nearby services.
Coolum Beach is patrolled 365 days a year with a mix of paid lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers. The beach also has two flagged swimming areas. Surf Life Saving Queensland recorded more than 270,000 beachgoers last summer, 30 rescues, 2,275 first aid treatments and more than 8,000 preventative actions.
