Summer Living

LIGHTING – Add some string lights to the garden or deck for an overhead feature. Solar garden lights can also create an energy efficient solution. Don’t forget lanterns and hurricane lighting your table at night

FANS – Turn your fans to summer mode running the fan forward will ensure its pushing the air onto you to keep you cool.

FLOWERS – Change your spring flowers over to succulents. They are more water efficient throughout the heat of Summer. Having grown in popularity there are many groovy options, check out our favourites Blue chalk sticks, Donkey’s Tail, Aloe Vera, The snake plant or a Jade Plant.

COTTON – Cotton fabrics are super breathable and help cool your body. Wear light, loose clothing made of breathable fabrics like cotton, and fit your bed with cotton sheets.

DINING- Summer entertaining requires melamine glasses, bright napkins,a large ice bucket and some quality food covers. Invest in a big glass jug – top with ice and slices of fresh lemon or fruit to keep hydrated when entertaining.

STYLING- Don’t forget to accessorise your outdoor living space as you would any other room in your home. Add interest with colourful outdoor rugs or patterned pillows or throws and large pots for some extra greenery.

OUTDOORS- Heading outside – Obey the 5 Ss “Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, Slide.”
That is, Slip on clothing, Slop on SPF30 or higher sunscreen, Slap on a hat, Seek shade and Slide on sunnies.

BEACH– And as always when heading to the beach- Swim between the flags!
